Whilst in Hoi An a family friend came to visit us and being a Hoi An foodie fanatic she showed us some of her favourite places to eat and Streets Cafe was one of them!
Streets Cafe is not only a delicious restaurant but also has a fantastic story behind it. It is an NGO set up to give training in culinary skills and hospitality to street kids or orphans. All the profits from the cafe go towards funding the training program and you can even donate a little more by purchasing some of their gifts or the beautiful cookery book they sell inside!
Streets Cafe is located on Le Loi street which is little further back into the Old Quarter but it was nice to escape the busy streets by the waters edge and explore a little deeper into the town! The cafe is Inside one of the ageing yellow buildings synonymous with Hoi An but is bright and modern on the inside! The menu is traditional and simple and the food absolutely bursting with flavour!
We had been desperate to try the local Hoi An dish Cau Lau; noodles with pork so on seeing this on the menu we ordered it instantly! We were a group of six people and everyone ordered slightly different things but as the food came we were all in silence, eating and slurping away until everything was finished! Delicious!!
Whilst the menu at Streets Cafe is slightly more expensive than we would normally go for, our dish was 120k VND, it is still on the budget end of the scale. Plus for such an amazing cause which you can see, read and taste, you really don’t mind paying that little more.
All in all this was a great find and somewhere you can dine for an amazing cause so we highly recommended Streets Cafe for a lunch or dinner stop when exploring Hoi An!
